Objectives of the project
To allow the groups of young people from various communities across the Western Cape an opportunity to explore and experience the therapeutic effect that being on Table Mountain can provide.
Subjects discussed are:
- Conservation of our natural environment & water
- The unique heritage of the Cape Floral Kingdom
- The scourge of litter and the obligation of everyone to counter this.
In this relaxed environment for the participants, more important issues that face the youth of today are tackled:
- Awareness of the HIV/ AIDS pandemic and possible personal strategies to counter the threat.
- The debilitating impact of drug and alcohol abuse on families and communities.
- Raise Awareness about Woman Abuse.

- An introduction to personal development skills to develop the leadership potential
of the participants
- An introduction to poverty alleviation strategies for young people.
To have the participants return to their homes and class-rooms, able to discuss these kinds of issues with their families and peers, and better equipped to seek out and participate in extra –curricular programmes and so build on their experience with BEEP.
