Lindela Mjenxane

The project was conceived by Lindela, who currently manages the project. Lindela is a registered tour guide in the Western Cape and registered Table Mountain guide.

Between 2000 and 2004, LIndela was a volunteer leader with The Pride of Table Mountain Project , taking kids on day hikes on Table Mountain. In Simon’s Town School, he started an environmental club collecting litter in the school grounds and vicinity.

Lindela worked as a volunteer facilitator with Molo Songololo an organisation dealing with social issues such as HIV/Aids, teenage pregnancy, drugs, child prostitution, children’s rights , amongst others. In 2003, he won a Cape Times and Caltex Environmental Award in the Youth Category. In 2006, he won a Western Cape Premier Award in the common youth catagory.

Last year Lindela did a Documentary which was broadcast on SABC 3, on the Healing Power of Nature, with the title the spirit of the mountain.

Khanyiswa Zangqa

Lindela is supported by Khanyiswa Zangqa who will staff the office and co-ordinate the Project. Khanyiswa shares Lindela’s passion for working to uplift the community.

Khanyiswa is now nominated for the Woman in Water Award 2007, on Community Builder category. Khanyiswa won the Emerging Woman of the Worth 2007.

The project is supported by a further three registered guides and two group leaders. In addition a further eight leaders have been identified and recruited to work on an “as required” basis.
